Potty Taining and other stuff.

Many of you have asked about my mom. First of all thank you for your prayers and asking about her. She is doing pretty well now after a hard week last week. Her chemo dosage was changed as well as she was given a shot to up her white blood count. Between the two she had a rough week but is feeling better now. Her radiation was completed last week so no more daily trips. She will have another cat scan in about 5 weeks and we are praying and hopeful we will see improvement.

We are still at my parents house. We had plans to move into a house today but that has developed a snag..hopefully, just a delay (homeowner had a medical emergency). We will know more next week. The kids are doing well. The girls started school on Wednesday and have been made to feel very welcome. Jordan will start Monday. Mark suprised the kids by flying in last Friday for the weekend. They loved it!! He will be back Tuesday for a full week.

I am enjoying doing family things. I will be able to see my nephew wrestle for the first time tomorrow and attend an art show my dad is in tonight (he is a craftsman and hand forges knives) as Spicer kicks off their winter festival....complete with snowmobile races, the lighting of the ice castle and a plunge in Green Lake.....the kids have GOT to see that. I am also planning a family dinner for Sunday to kick off Chinese New Year!

We have also been working on potty training this week. Hudson was circumcised right after Christmas so now that he is healed and we are settled here I decided to get this behind us. We have tried training before but due to the fact that I am NEVER home for several hours at a time it didn't work well. He had a handle on peepee but #2 has been another issue. SOOO....since he is obsessed with cars I bought him "Mack" as a bribe. He would sit and look at the package for several minutes many times a day......never fussing to have it but understanding he could play with it when he put poopoo in the potty. It took almost 2 full days BUT....Finally!!! Oh, the excitement he had.....!!!!

Longingly looking at what could be......

Success!!!!

Winter in Minnesota

We have enjoyed our first few days in Mn. We arrived Monday (after enjoying 80 degrees Saturday in TX) in 16 degree weather. Yesterday as we left the house for winter coat shopping it was minus 2. My dear friend Connie texted me letting me know it was 72 and sunny in Tx!! Although it is cold unlike we are used to, like good Minnesotans we have enjoyed outside activities. The kids have been sledding and Jordan spent some time ice fishing with the men. They caught several so we had fish for supper last night!
Hudson is getting used to having to be bundled up when he leaves the house and of course the winter wonderland outside is beautiful to look at as we are nestled back in the woods. As my brother's family have just left to go back to Illinois we will now spend next week getting settled and getting things tied up for the kids to start school. They will start in a couple weeks as the new semester starts here then. Tx starts school a few weeks earlier so they aren't missing any days of school as our semester ended right before Christmas. We covet your prayers for our transition especially as they will begin a whole experience in public school. I know they will do fine but prayer is always appreciated.
Miss all of you back in TX.....

Not Really liking the 2 degrees!!! (or the snowsuit)

Happy New Year!

12 Noon New Years Day

A New Year, A New Adventure......

Last year we brought in 2008 knowing we would travel to China in the adventure of a lifetime. This year our travels will not take us to China but we will launch into a new adventure this weekend. The kids and I are packing up and heading to MN to spend the winter/spring with my parents. As my mom fights her cancer we will fight with her and are grateful, not for her illness, but that we have the opportunity to spend lots of time with my parents, my sister and her family and brothers and their families. I have lived in the south almost 20 years and although we travel to MN a couple times a year there is much I miss out on. Thankfully the kids are so on board with this and we know that is the Lord's work on their hearts. Mark and I love change and are always up for new things and we are grateful that the kids seem to have inherited this. We know it is no easy thing as teenagers to leave their comfort zones and launch out into the unknown in the middle of a school year. We are so proud of them that they are not only willing, but excited. It will be fun for me to watch them experience a "real" winter and we are all hoping for a snowstorm or two....

We are grateful for incredible friends here who I know will take good care of Mark and keep him busy. We have had nothing but support from all of them and know they carry us and my mom in their prayers. We never know what a new year will bring but He continually gives us His strength and peace and we rest in that knowing He is never surprised with what lies ahead.

Mark and I brought in the New Year last night with just Hudson...yes, he was up that late!! Christmas has brought NO schedule!!! He actually spent his first night away from any family with my DEAR, DEAR friend Kari and her husband Joel. He did great and I think would have spent the night (I heard they had help Sharon and Amber). We got home just before 12 so the above was taken at midnight as he snuggled in bed with Mark and I. We, of course, reflected once again on what a year it has been as we brought this incredible, sweet, entertaining, lovable, funny, smart little boy into our life. Hudson has exceeded our biggest dreams and we give our Lord all the glory for all He has done to allow us to be his parents. We made life long friendships in 08 and can't wait to see all of our travel group families hopefully this winter/spring. We are blessed!!!!

May your 09 bring abundant blessings dear friends!! I look forward to hearing what adventures He has for you!!
